On the 80th anniversary of the deportation by the federal government from Hood River of more than 400 residents of Japanese descent, including many U. S. citizens, Riverside Community Church is holding a commemorative march from the church to the Hood River train station. The ceremony will start at noon on Friday, May 13.

I wanted to give you an update on things that have been happening behind the scenes at First Congregational. I've continued to be in touch with Pastor Eric, Melanie, and his doctor, and I have good confidence in his doctor and in the work they are doing together. Pastor Eric continues to care deeply for this church and for its future, and we are all grateful for your continued prayers and care for Pastor Eric and his health.

The book group will be meeting on Tuesday, May 10th at 4:30 to discuss The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman.

We have been busy!

Delivered five baby quilts to the Ukrainian Bible Church in Fairview, along with diapers, new underwear, baby clothing, and all sorts of good stuff they asked for.

Last Tuesday, Council voted to allow Flash Grub and PDX Free Fridge to place a refrigerator and a small pantry on the front porch and use of the kitchen for food preparation. The fridge and pantry will be stocked with various foods, some ready -to-eat and some to take and heat, for our neighbors who are food insecure.

Please bring donations to church on Sunday.
