A MESSAGE FROM OUR CONFERENCE MINISTER

I wanted to give you an update on things that have been happening behind the scenes at First Congregational. I've continued to be in touch with Pastor Eric, Melanie, and his doctor, and I have good confidence in his doctor and in the work they are doing together. Pastor Eric continues to care deeply for this church and for its future, and we are all grateful for your continued prayers and care for Pastor Eric and his health.

I also met with the Church Council this Thursday, and while much of that conversation was confidential, I can let you know that we have begun to make plans for the possibility the church will need a short-term Supply Pastor once our current Pulpit Preaching schedule ends on June 5th.

We're grateful for the people who have stepped up as Pulpit Preachers, and in so many other ways. I'm also grateful for Bunny Oliver for coordinating our Pulpit Preacher schedule. (That scheduling is more work than anyone realizes, until they do it.) However, we also know that if we were to continue without Pastor Eric's presence at the church after June 5th, we would definitely need a Supply Pastor for the short term who can be present in more ways than just preaching.

I know this Easter Season is extremely difficult. I want you to know that you have a good and wise Council, and the conversation at Thursday's meeting focused on the hope for good health for both Pastor Eric and for our beloved community. For me, part of the message of Easter is that we have a Loving Parent who works together with us in all things -- whatever the circumstances -- for the good of all God's children. I trust God is doing this good work today as much as in the past.
