WALK OFF THE TURKEY
Willamette River
Sunday, November 28
2pm
Our November walk falls on the Sunday after Thanksgiving, November 28 at 2pm. We’ll do a scenic walk along the Willamette River this month, so you can show off the city to visiting relatives (or recover from a busy weekend). This is a repeat of our first walk (last March). Meet at the roundabout at SW Montgomery St. and SW River Dr. at the South Waterfront Park/Riverplace Marina near the top of the entrance ramp to the docks, near the garden. The full route (3.1 miles) will take us over the Tilikum Crossing, along the Eastbank Esplanade, across the Morrison Bridge, and back along the waterfront. A shorter option (1.5 miles) will turn around midway across the Tilikum Crossing.
The entire route is paved and there are no stairs, but there are some inclines to access the bridges. At the start point there are public restrooms and many benches in a garden setting. Paid street parking (2 hours) is available, as well as longer-term options in area parking lots. Max, Portland Streetcar and buses all serve the area. As always, if you want to plan a walk or need more information, contact Nanci Tangeman at nanci@nancitangeman.com
