MARCH WALK: CLIMB A VOLCANO

Sunday, March 20th at 2pm
SE 69th Ave and SE Yamhill

This month we take on Mt. Tabor, a 636-foot extinct volcano in SE Portland. Join us on Sunday, March 20, at 2pm. Meet at the north entrance to the park, at the corner of SE 69th Ave and SE Yamhill. We will walk up the paved road, on a gentle incline, to the top of Mt. Tabor to take in the view of Portland. Our return trip will continue around the mountain. Depending on the mud factor, we may follow the trails through the forest as we make our way down the hill. (Plan accordingly, with walking sticks and grabby soles.) If it’s wet, we’ll stick to the paved roads. The walk will cover about 2.5 miles. If you prefer a shorter route, you can turn around at any point or join us halfway up the hill (inside the park) at the gate where SE Tabor Summit Drive and SE North Tabor Drive meet. (Please let Nanci know if you plan to do this.) Dogs are welcome but must be leashed. Free but limited parking at both start points. Bus route #15 passes the north entrance. Restrooms available. As always, if you want to plan a walk – or need more information, contact Nanci Tangeman at nanci@nancitangeman.com.
