HELP OUR NEIGHBORS ON THE STREET
The homeless have a need for sewing kits. If you have extra thread (especially black or white), sewing needles and pins (in secure little containers), Small craft scissors such as what kids would use, and small containers such as hard plastic or with a zipped closing, any of these components would help to make small sewing kits that the homeless can have on hand to make repairs.
Bring any of these items to church and place under the fellowship table, the same place where clothes donations are held. I will put the items together into kits and be sure they are distributed, especially in my work at Transition Projects where people have asked for this kind of thing.
*I cannot provide tax donation receipts because of the bookkeeping that would be involved; I hope you understand.
So many people are quietly suffering on the streets in Portland and are in need of any donations you can help with: socks, shoes (any condition), paperbacks, adult coloring books, and women's hygiene products.
Barbara Bennett has offered to gather and distribute any donations. Donations can be left under the Pencil Table in the Followship Hall. Please contact Barbara on 503-939-9519 if you have any questions.
Financial donations can be made to Street Roots, who create income opportunities for people experiencing homelessness and poverty.
